I have always been a strong believer of good family relationships even before I knew how beneficial having one is. You can be able to build strong family relationships by simply showing your appreciation to them, ensuring constant communication and spending quality time like during family vacations. I tell you, if you’re not doing any of these in your own family, it’s never too late. Being in a warm and loving family has its benefits because it does the following:

  • It makes children feel loved and secure. This aids in proper brain development.
  • It makes it easier for family members to resolve conflicts and solve problems.
  • Children develop independence and as a result it helps them respect different opinions.
  • It makes it easier for children to overcome problems and struggles in behavior, learning, sleeping and eating.
  • It allows children to hone their skills so they can build strong and healthy relationships on their own.

Just recently, my family and I enjoyed a weeklong trip in California. It has always been a yearly tradition to visit California and we all had a grand time. Instead of booking a flight, we decided it would be best to take a long road trip so we can spend quality time with the kids and talk about anything and everything under the sun. Of course, included in our itinerary is going to Disney.

We’ve been to Disney before but this time I wanted us to have a theme for our outfits so I shopped for matching Mickey and Minnie mouse shirts on Amazon and bought the best bag for Disney in 2017. And while shopping, I saw this top stroller for Disney World and I couldn’t imagine myself not getting it so I added it to the cart as well. The pictures we took, with all of us in the same outfits were truly magical but the best part about it all is the fact that all my kids had fun and so did we. Sure, it was an outing intended for kids but surprisingly, we all had an amazing time.

Family vacations require that you shell out money but you know what I realized? It’s not the destination or where you’re heading to that matters, as long as you are spending quality time regardless where you are, you will already reap the benefits of it. Besides, after that trip my husband and I said it was all worth it and we made sure to take photos of every moment that we wanted to immortalize.

According to experts, it’s better to spend your money on vacations rather on toys because most of the time kids get bored with their toys in a week or two weeks time. And according to Oliver James, a psychologist, children value family holidays not just in the moment but also long afterward in their memories. So if you are going to spend money on something that you think your kids will enjoy, don’t even think about spending on toys. Instead of shelling out cash for plastic toys why don’t you save it in the bank and use it for family holidays? Trust us, your kids will thank you for it.
